Q. Wait, what’s Alpha Phi Omega again?
A. Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed National Service Fraternity, inspired by the Boy Scouts of America. Our primary focus is to provide volunteer service within four areas: service to the community, service to the campus, service to the fraternity, and service to the nation & world. Our members dedicate their time and effort into bettering our campus, community, nation, and fraternity.
Q. Who can join?
A. Alpha Phi Omega welcomes anyone regardless of major, gender, age, ethnicity, community service background, etc. An interested party, however, must be enrolled at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo to join our chapter.
Q. Why join Alpha Phi Omega?
A. Alpha Phi Omega is the largest collegiate fraternity in the United States. The very core of our organization distinctly separates us from other fraternities: Scout's Oath. Alpha Phi Omega is closely modeled after the Boy Scouts of America, our greatest goal being the continuation of Scout traditions in collegiate lives and beyond. Our brotherhood looks to make a difference in the world through service and fosters life-lasting friendships. Alpha Phi Omega is not just an organization, it is a family.
Q. What differentiates Alpha Phi Omega and a club?
A. As a fraternity, we require greater commitment from active members in order to develop a stronger community. Our organization works to provide opportunities that will help members in their leadership development and overall college experience. As a professional fraternity at a top educational institution, we want our members to develop as young professionals. Whether it be serving as a board member for our executive committee, or attending national Alpha Phi Omega conferences, we encourage and support the professional growth of our fellow brothers.
Q. How do I join?!
A. Our fraternity hosts rush weeks in the beginning of the Fall and Spring quarters. More information can be found on “The Process” page.
